nternational Comparison of Health Expenditure and Outcomes

DESCRIPTION/NAME of Assignment

This  artifact is from a group assignment completed in H354, Health Economics. As a team we compared health system performance across five countries Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Mexico using OECD Health Statistics data.

These same steps can be followed to embed other forms of media as well. If your artifact is a video or slide deck, upload it to ONEDRIVE or Google Drive and you can use the same steps. If you have another form, find a YouTube video or steps online on how best to add it. If all else fails, visit the ePortfolio Studio for technical help.

What I learned

I chose this assignment because it gave me a real look at how differently countries invest in and perform on health outcomes. The biggest takeaway was that spending more money does not always lead to better health results. The United States spends the most of any country in the comparison at 17.2% of GDP, yet it ranked below Canada, Germany, and the UK in life expectancy and infant mortality. This assignment helped me think critically about health system efficiency and how resource allocation connects to population health outcomes.
